Version 0.6.240325 Patch Notes - Rule of Cool




PHEW.

That took a moment. This update features a BUNCH of new features, including an improved Kraken boss fight (thank you for the feedbacks!), free map navigation, a new crew promotion logic and generally better quality of life and game feel.  Important/cool stuff in Italic.

Level

  • You are now free to explore the level without having to first upgrade the lighthouse
  • Special corals with 100% chance to drop an item and up to 3 XP can now randomly spawn around the map
  • Reduced items drop rate of regular corals

Crew

  • Promotions can now only be acquired in order. Changed promotions order for multiple crew members
  • Merchant: Silvertongue building discount 25%>20%, Barterer weapon discount 25%>20%
  • Mechanic: replaced Grip Master with Electrician: +30% electric weapon damage (currently Pulsator and Lightning)
  • Cook: Preserver now gives 20% of $ at the end of each wave wave (max $50), Nose to Tail heal 1 per 200 damage > 1 per 300 damage

Buildings

  • New designs for all buildings
  • Garage now pulses in red to indicate that it's healing
  • Store now shows some weapon categories (gun, electric, directional)
  • Factory now stops XP spawn during boss fight

Boats

  • Bass Boat: now gives 10% damage against fish type enemies, no longer provides drop chance or double collection, Removed biologist
  • Spec Ops: cargo size 5>4
  • Removed Hydrofoil and Jetboat

Enemies

  • Kraken: Second phase now drops ink puddles that deal damage, as well as changes to charging behavior. Tentacles: health 1000>700, base damage 5>10, fire rate 0.7-1.1>0.5>0.7, projectile speed 3.75>4, speed per destroyed tentacle 0.38>0.3
  • Swordfish: new animation to communicate charging.
  • Fish: health per level 5>3. Can no longer drop items.
  • Shark: base speed 2.5>2.4, speed per level 0.025>0.035, damage per level 0.5>0.4
  • Swordfish: charge preparation 0.5s>0.25s, charge speed per level 0.05>0.1, charge distance 6>7
  • Tendril: health 12>10, health per level 6>4
  • Turtle: health 70>50, health per level 10>5
  • Turtle Eggs: health per level 4>1, time to spawn hatchling 5s>10s, now disappear after each wave.
  • Hatchling: speed 1.25>1.35.
  • Shrimp: damage increase per level 0.1>0.2
  • Fish, Turtle Eggs, Hatchlings and Shrimps no longer have a chance to drop items.
  • Charging enemies now cannot be knocked back while charging
  • Added diving sound to all enemies.

UI

  • Buildings now marked with icons to show where they are
  • New main menu animation and link to Discord server
  • Star and Magnet now show above boat to indicate picked up item
  • Particles now show on health bar when healing
  • Added stat icons to text boxes
  • Weapon category now appears near weapon title in store

Visuals

  • Made some particles and animations play during game pause
  • Lowered threshold for damage text to become white to 5 (was 10)

Player

  • fixing now starts 2 seconds after taking damage

Audio

  • Limited number of sounds that can play simultaneously
